📊 Venezuela’s Inflation Slows, but Remains Among the Highest in the World

The U.S. Chargé d’Affaires in Caracas, John Barrett, attributed Venezuela’s lower official inflation rate this Monday to what he described as “concrete results” of Donald Trump’s policy, after Trump has repeatedly praised cooperation with Delcy Rodríguez’s government.
“In May, monthly inflation in Venezuela fell to 6.3%, returning to single digits for the first time in more than a year. This progress shows that the recovery phase of the three-phase plan,” Barrett stated through the social media accounts of the U.S. Embassy in Venezuela.
He added: “Maintaining the momentum of reforms will be key to consolidating stability, attracting investment, and generating lasting prosperity for Venezuelans.”
Economists agree that prices have risen less aggressively in recent weeks, but Venezuela still has the highest inflation rate in the world. The IMF projects it to remain above 387% on average for the year, although with a downward trend to 219% by the end of December.
